St. Petersburg, Fla. - Pinellas Park four-star running back Lawrance Toafili announced his committment to Florida State during Spectrum Sports 360 on Wednesday night on Spectrum Bay News 9.

  • Toafili chose FSU over Florida, Auburn, Michigan and Ohio State
  • Toafili is the 13th-best RB in the 2020 recruiting class
  • Toafili is the third Bay Area player to commit to FSU in 2020 class

"Me and my mom laid out a list of 'Pros and Cons'," Toafili told Spectrum Sports 360 host Chris Torello. "(FSU) just edged everyone else out."

Toafili had been recruiting by the likes of Auburn's Cadillac Williams (former Bucs running back) and spoken with head coaches Dan Mullen (Florida), Jim Harbaugh (Michigan), Ryan Day (Ohio State), and Gus Malzahn (Auburn). Toafili knew that having the best programs after him was a special thing for a soon-to-be high school senior.

"It's a blessing you get to meet so many people on a high level (in college football)," Toafili said. "It's pretty cool."

Toafili said he wanted to focus on his senior season at Pinellas Park and made the choice to commit before the school year. Toafili has over 3,300 career rushing yards in high school and averages 11.0 yards per carry.

FSU has the 11th ranked recruiting class for 2020 and the third best in the ACC behind only Clemson and Miami.
