A new poll from Marist University shows the race for mayor is tightening as the final days on the campaign trail approaches.

About 43% of respondents said former Gov. Andrew Cuomo is their first choice for mayor, while 31% said Queens Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani is their top choice and 8% said City Comptroller Brad Lander.

The race tightens even further after accounting for ranked-choice voting.

The poll also shows that Cuomo only passes the 50% threshold needed for victory in the seventh round. In that hypothetical scenario, Mamdani finishes in second place with 45%, with all other candidates eliminated.

Lee Miringoff, the director of the Marist Institute for Public Opinion, joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Thursday to break this down.
