We're watching a tropical disturbance move across Florida with potential to develop once it moves over the Gulf.
What You Need To Know
- An area of low pressure will move into the Gulf this week
- It has a medium chance to develop in the northern Gulf
- The next name on the list is Dexter
An area of low pressure is producing disorganized showers and storms across northern Florida and the Southeast.
The system will move over the Gulf overnight into Wednesday. Conditions could become favorable for some gradual development in the northern Gulf later this week. It has medium odds to develop once it moves over the Gulf.
The further south it goes will allow this system to spend more time over water, maximizing its development potential. A tropical depression could form later this week over the northeastern or north-central Gulf.
Regardless of development, heavy rainfall is expected this week across the Gulf Coast. Florida will see the bulk of the heavy rainfall potential through midweek, with tropical moisture shifting toward the north-central Gulf Coast later this week from Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle bringing the risk for flooding.
The next name on the list is Dexter.
