LONG BEACH, Calif. — A labor dispute at the port of Long Beach has led to the closure of terminals, causing significant disruptions in the trucking industry.

The shortage of workers and terminal closures has resulted in trucking delays, the accumulation of empty shipping containers and a costly backlog.

Negotiations between shippers and the union for a new contract are ongoing, with more than 22,000 longshore workers across 29 U.S. West Coast ports affected by the expired agreement.
