GREENVILLE, S.C. - For the seventh time, the Southeastern Conference is setting up shop in Greenville for their women's basketball tournament. Bon Secours Wellness Arena has become a home away from home every March. Perennial favorite South Carolina helps bring in a fans from across the Palmetto State.
According to the city of Greenville, 87,000 tickets have already been sold for this year's event. The first contest is set to tip off at 11:30 on Wednesday morning. That begins five days of exciting action which could culminate in one of the toughest brackets in the history of the tournament. Five of the teams in the field are ranked in the top 12 of the college basketball rankings.
Last week, Banners representing each of the SEC schools were already being placed on light poles around downtown. In addition, the city of Greenville will be sharing updates on social media regarding the tournament. Expect alteredtTraffic patterns along with delays for team departures from their various hotels around the city.
The week will also include events outside the games. Saturday's "Downtown Dribble" event has already been sold out. Plus, on Sunday morning, ESPN will broadcast "College GameDay" live from Greenville.
