MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Some of the best runners in the Palmetto State are descending on Myrtle Beach Saturday for the 2025 Myrtle Beach Marathon. However, for people not running, a six-hour race can create traffic chaos, especially on the main roads where various legs of the more than 26-mile race will take place.

Marathon officials have shared that most roads will be open and closed on a staggered basis as runners finish in that particular part of the course. Most of the closures will begin at six in the morning and last for four hours, but there are other more specific closures listed as well.

Grissom from 21st Ave N to 10th Ave N will close at 3:00 in the morning and not reopen until 2:00 in the afternoon. Below is a list of other specific closures and the times they will happen.

10th Ave N (Mr. Joe White) from Grissom to N Ocean Blvd 6:30 AM 9:45 AM
N Ocean Blvd from 8th Ave N to 10th Ave N 7:00 AM 9:30 AM
Grand Dunes Blvd (Southbound Lanes) from N Ocean Blvd to Hwy 17 7:15 AM 11:15 AM

Drivers should be aware that police will be stationed at some intersections along the course, and if it is deemed safe, will be assisted in crossing the course at that time. However, officials encourage drivers to exercise patience as these crossings will only be allowed at the discretion of the authorities and course monitors.
