Saratoga County District Attorney Karen Heggen has announced her retirement.

Heggen made her decision official Wednesday. She has been in the DA's office in various positions since 1993, serving as DA since 2015.

The DA's office said Heggen's last day on the job will be Aug. 1; her replacement, an official said, will be determined by who the first assistant DA is that day.
