ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The price of gas around the 4th of July hasn't been this cheap since 2021.
GasBuddy predicts that prices at the pump will average between $3.10 and $3.15 nationwide later this week.
For comparison, we were paying $3.49 per gallon at this time last year.
The state average is currently at about $3.07.
Meanwhile, AAA predicts that nearly 61.6 million Americans are gearing up for Independence Day road trips. That is about a 2.2% increase from last year.
Last year, AAA responded to more than 700,000 roadside emergencies, with the most common calls being for flat tires, dead batteries and lockouts.
“As you finalize your travel plans, don’t forget to check your vehicle’s condition,” said Mark Jenkins, Public Relations Manager for AAA – The Auto Club Group. “A simple pre-trip inspection of your tires, battery, brakes, and other essentials can prevent unexpected breakdowns.”
