Rochester City Council is going over Mayor Malik Evans' proposed budget in a series of public hearings this week.

Evans submitted a $680 million proposal earlier this month for the 2025-26 fiscal year.

He said it will keep the city property tax levy flat for a fourth year and maintain current services. Included in the proposal, however, is an average increase of less than $5 to residents' water bills due to, Evans says, recent renovations of the city's water infrastructure that's nearly 150 years old.

Wednesday's hearing involved finance and business development.

Hearings continue Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. in Council Chambers for those who wish to attend.

All three planned sessions will be livestreamed on the City Council's YouTube page.

City Council must vote on a final budget by June 17.
