TEXAS — Temperatures are expected to reach triple digits in parts of Central and South Texas this week. Several cities are opening up their cooling centers for those who want to beat the heat.

Prolonged heat can pose serious health risks, including heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

The City of Austin maintains several cooling centers which are available during the summer months for people to escape the heat and cool down.

These facilities serve as a temporary reprieve from the heat during normal operating hours. Service animals, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, are allowed in City facilities.
