LOUISVILLE, Ky. — We are just over two weeks away from the 151st runnings of the Kentucky Oaks and the Kentucky Derby. Oaks Day is Friday, May 2, and the Derby is Saturday, May 3.

The top 18 horses, according to their points, earn a spot in the starting gate for the Run for the Roses. For the Kentucky Oaks, it’s the top 14 point earners in the gate. The Kentucky Derby features three-year-olds and they run 1 1/4 miles. The Oaks features three-year-old fillies, but is only 1 1/8 miles long.

This year’s Derby field features Santa Anita Derby winner, Journalism and Arkansas Derby winner Sandman.

The 151st Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs is Saturday, May 3. The day will be broadcast on NBC, Peacock, USA Network and FanDuel TV. Streaming will be available on Peacock.
