TAMPA, Fla. — Kenneth “Ken” Hart will be honored on Tuesday as the Hillsborough County School Board is expected to vote to rename a new building at Alonso High School after him.
The building at Alonso High School houses the school’s football locker room, wrestling gym as well as classrooms and space for the school’s JROTC program.

Hart said he is honored, after dozens of letters poured into the school district supporting the new name.

“Our theme was walk with a purpose,” Hart said. “This is a huge building and we had to really push for that. So the theme when I was here, walk with a purpose. And it still is today. Get to class on time. Be on time. Be engaged. Be a part of the program.
“It’s a basic approach to education I think you can’t ever lose.”
Alonso’s new Building 21 will bear the name “Ken Hart Sports and Leadership Center” after the school board votes to approve the change on Tuesday.
