KANSAS CITY, Mo.—After one day back in class, schools on the Kansas side are closed again following overnight snow.
About three inches of new powder was enough to call off in-person learning in the Blue Valley, Shawnee Mission and Olathe school districts.
Kansas City, Kan. and most schools on the Missouri side have been closed the entire week or have opted for virtual learning.
North Kansas City Schools Superintendent Rochel Daniels said on her X page: "This morning's drive shows me hit and miss conditions with many spots still too slick to be safe for students. We'll keep learning from home today, January 10."
Becasue of the overnight snow on Friday, Shawnee Mission School District Superintendent Dr. Mike Schumaker also spoke on X, saying: "I am sorry to say that we need to close school again today, January 10. There is just too much new snow on top of what we already had. Please be safe and warm and we will see everyone on Monday!"
Many athletic activies around the Kansas City area on Friday night are still scheduled to take place.
