ST. LOUIS – The Dome is about to get dirty as it prepares for the largest indoor dirt racing spectacle.
150 drivers from all over the country will compete in one of the most important races to take place on dirt with 20,000 people in attendance.
Drives need a particularly unique skillset to handle these compact dirt race tracks. The intense races in close-quarters lead to frequent incidents. The track is built from stored dirt and is only used for the event. During the event, the racing surface evolves.
Fans and visitors can expect animated driver introductions, interviews, and celebrations.
Winning the preliminary night pays the driver $5,000. A 40-lap finale for Super Late Models will pay the winner $30,000.
The three-day event begins Thursday and each day the Dome's doors open at 2 p.m. with on track activity starting at 3 p.m. For a full schedule of events, click here.
