The Highland Park Reservoir is finally empty, months after a body was found in the water.
The city of Rochester says crews will be cleaning the reservoir for the next two weeks and expect to start refilling the bowl in early July, which can take about three weeks.
In March, a boil advisory was put in effect after the body of a missing Rochester resident, Abdullahi Muya, 29, was found.
After an investigation, security footage showed the victim slid into the Highland Park Reservoir on Feb. 24 after entering the gated area around 6:30 a.m. That was more than two weeks before his body was actually found.
Police say no one else was present at the time of his death and there does not appear to be any crime involved.
Multiple samples were collected from the water distribution system over 16 hours to confirm the water quality had not been impacted, and the boil water notice was lifted.
