Pope Francis, the first Latin American pontiff, died Monday at the age of 88.

From the start of his papacy, Pope Francis ushered in a shift in tone for the Catholic Church — one focused on compassion, inclusion and humility, following the more controversial tenure of Pope Benedict XVI.

David Gibson, director of the Center on Religion and Culture at Fordham University, joined “Mornings On 1” Monday to reflect on the pope’s global impact.
