Mayor Eric Adams announced Monday that migrant families staying in city shelters will be given 60 days before they have to leave the shelter and apply for placement.
Migrant families say this will cause problems for their kids attending schools, and wherever they get placed next could be hours away from the school their child was originally attending.
City Council Deputy Speaker Diana Ayala joined political reporter Bobby Cuza Tuesday night on "Inside City Hall" to discuss the new shelter rules.
“We should not ever, ever have on the table any type of policy that disrupts the lives of children,” Ayala said.
Ayala represents parts of East Harlem and the South Bronx. She is the chair of the Committee on General Welfare.
