While June 19, 1865 was the date enslaved Texans found out they were free… on that same date in 1939, Ms. Opal Lee’s family home in Fort Worth was burned to ashes by a violent mob. But as reporter Blessing Iwuchukwu shows us, Opal is now reclaiming her childhood home.
