ST. LOUIS — Over 2,500 people filled the Fabulous Fox Theatre Sunday afternoon for a benefit concert supporting victims of the May 16th tornado in St. Louis.

The pay-what-you-can event featured specially selected music by the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, Grammy Award-winning vocalist BeBe Winans and the IN UNISON and St. Louis Symphony choruses.

“We believe that music is a universal language that brings people together from all walks of life,” SLSO President and CEO Marie-Hélène Bernard said. “Our hope today is that you will find healing, comfort, hope and inspiration from today’s performance.”

The concert raised over $200,000 for the Urban League’s disaster relief fund. Proceeds will also support recovery efforts at the nine local churches.

Donations made on the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra website will be matched up to $150,000 through July 4.
