The Section V Cross Country Championships were held in Parma, Wayne and Oakfield-Alabama on Saturday.

Class A was held at Parma Park outside Hilton and Kaelen Ruder's late kick earned the Fairport senior the title. The Red Raiders won the team title as well.

On the girls side, Irondequoit junior Candace Tytler won her second straight Class A individual title, pulling away from Rush-Henrietta eighth-grader Haylie Smith. Fairport and Churchville-Chili each finished with 98 points, so the tie-breaker is the number six runners. Emily Leo's 39th place finish winning it for the Red Raiders.

Class B held at Wayne Central and HF-L senior Ryan Dailor pulled away to win, leading the Cougars to the team title.

On the girls side, Newark junior Trinity Wells pulled away early from HF-L's Ann Brennan to win the title but Brennan and teammates Paige Kidd and Anna Everhart finished 2-3-6 as the Cougars also won the girls team title.

Honeoye Central won both the D girls and D2 boys team titles held at Oakfield-Alabama.

Saturday's races and the Class C girls swimming marked the end of the COVID-19 shortened fall season.
