Experts are warning that ticks are a serious threat in and around the city this summer.

The latest risk level for the tri-state area is a 10 out of 10, according to Fordham University's Tick Index. The city health department says ticks are most common in woods or grassy, shaded areas.

They wait for a person or animal to walk by and then grab on, looking to bite and feed on blood. Tick bites can come with serious health risks, including Lyme disease and other conditions.

Dr. Sara Siddiqui from NYU Langone Health joined Stef Manisero to discuss how to stay safe from tick bites.
