HARTFORD, Wis. — A fire was reported at a business in the Dodge Industrial Park on Innovation Way at 5:45 a.m. Thursday. Five people were injured, according to Hartford Fire & Rescue.

Officials said there were reports of an explosion at Signicast, a metal casting company.

Firefighters extinguished multiple fires inside of the burning building upon arrival. Officials said special tactics were needed to put out some of the fire, “due to molten metal being involved, which would react violently if traditional fire extinguishment tactics of using water from hose lines were to be utilized.”

Five people were injured and received medical attention from first responders. Three of those patients were taken to local hospitals. Flight for Life was requested to meet the “most critical patient” at the AMC-Hartford Hospital. Other people were triaged with the help of first responders on site.

Hartford Fire & Rescue said multiple firefighters also received rehabilitation care from emergency medical services (EMS) workers in order to stay healthy and keep working.

The cause of the fire and the reported explosion are under investigation.
