Upper-level high pressure over the southeastern U.S. has expanded westward and will persist over Texas through the next several days.

Expect warm, sometimes cloudy mornings and blazing hot afternoons through the next seven days. Lows will drop to the middle and upper 70s with highs in the middle and upper 90s with some 100s in various locations.

Heat index “feels like” temperatures will top out in the low 100s for a few hours each afternoon. Practice heat safety and avoid heat illness by staying hydrated, dressing appropriately, and taking frequent breaks to cool off completely.

A few sea breeze showers are possible by the end of the week ahead. They pop up in the afternoon and dissipate with sunset but occasionally produce isolated downpours.

Outside of a tropical system — and none are on the horizon — rain will be sparse for most of Texas.
