On March 23, 2017, State Police in Carthage stopped a vehicle for a Vehicle and Traffic violation on Mylady Road in the Town of Croghan. The driver, identified as Corey D. Marolf was driving with a suspended license. During the traffic stop, Troopers located methamphetamine and notified the Community Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET) who responded to assist with the investigation and arrest.
Evidence seized:
Approximately 5 grams meth
AR-15 Assault Weapon
High capacity magazine with ammunition
Corey D. Marolf, age 20, from 5792 Doviak Road Turin, NY was arrested for (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree, a class “D” felony for possession of an assault weapon with a high capacity magazine which was located inside the vehicle. Marolf was arraigned in the Village of Lowville Court and was released on his own recognizance.
A passenger in the vehicle, Charles V. Wareham, age 20, from 26222 Crowner Rd., Carthage, NY was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree, a class “B” felony for possession of methamphetamine. Wareham was arraigned in the Village of Lowville Court and remanded to the Lewis County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash/ $10,000 bond.

On March 30, 2017, an investigation conducted by members of the NYSP Community Narcotics Enforcement Team developed information that a subject was manufacturing methamphetamine at 4267 Cherry Street in Lyons Falls, NY.
A search warrant was executed by members of the State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET), Special Operations Response Team (SORT) and the Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team (CCSERT) without incident. CCSERT removed numerous items of meth manufacturing material.
Evidence seized:
Approximately 2 grams of methamphetamine
2 digital scales
21 long guns
Small amount of marihuana
Daggers
Billy clubs
Victor G. Ehlers, age 34, from 4267 Cherry Street Lyons Falls, NY was arrested for (2) counts of Manufacturing Methamphetamine 3rd degree, a class “D” felony; Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, a class “A” misdemeanor; (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree, a class “A” misdemeanor and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd degree, a class “A” misdemeanor.
Ehlers was arraigned in the Town of Lowville Court and remanded to the Lewis County Correctional Facility on $7,500 cash/ $15,000 bond.

On April 5, 2017, a search warrant was executed by members of the State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET), Special Operations Response Team (SORT) and the Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team (CCSERT) at 5037 Keener Hill Road in the Town of Martinsburg.
During the execution of the search warrant, the occupants of the house had just completed cooking methamphetamine and were in the process of burning waste from the meth manufacturing. State Police investigators removed over 20 items for meth manufacturing including a “one pot” gas generator, acid, salt, ephedrine, and grinders. Approximately 3 grams of methamphetamine was seized as evidence.
Anthony A. Pickel, age 35, from 5037 Keener Hill Rd., Apt. 2, Lowville, NY was charged with Manufacturing Meth 3rd degree, a class “D” felony; Unlawful Disposal of Meth Lab Material, a class “E” felony; Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th degree, a class “D” felony and (5) DEC violations for the Unlawful Disposal by burning and dumping near a stream.
Pickel was arraigned in the Town of Lowville Court and remanded to the Lewis County Jail on $5,000 bail.
Dylan J. Babcock, age 21, from 6509 E. Martinsburg Rd., Lowville, NY was charged with Manufacturing Meth 3rd degree, a class “D” felony; Unlawful Disposal of Meth Lab Material, a class “E” felony; Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th degree, a class “D” felony. He was arraigned in the Town of Lowville Court and remanded to the Lewis County Jail on $5,000 bail.
Ashley E. Joslyn, age 30, from 6667 Number 4th Rd., Lowville, NY was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, a class “A” misdemeanor for possession of methamphetamine. She also had an outstanding warrant from the Town of Dewitt court for petit larceny. Joslyn was arraigned in the Town of Lowville Court and remanded to the Lewis County Jail on $500 bail.
State Police were assisted by the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
