MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee Police said Jamal D. White has been found and is now safely back with his family.
"Jamal has a been located and is safe," said Milwaukee Police Lieutenant James M. Floriani. "The Milwaukee Police Department would like to thank everyone for their assistance in this matter."
There was a heavy police presence Saturday evening at North 39th Street and West Lloyd Street, which drew dozens of people.
One community activist there, Vaun Mayes, said he saw police bring White back to his family.
"I physically saw the family, and got confirmation from them. He was ok, he got checked out by medical that was on scene," Mayes said. "I've been part of a lot of cases, like you said, it didn't turn out this way. Definitely not this quickly, so again, this is the best case scenario to see the family how they are. I see they're ecstatic. This is a huge breath of fresh air for them."
An Amber Alert was issued for White on Friday when officials said an unknown suspect took him at gunpoint and put him into a white Jeep Renegade SUV.
Police said they were looking for a Black male suspect. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black face mask. Officials did not have any other identifying information about the suspect, but said he is armed with a handgun.
