MILWAUKEE — Despite last weekend’s dangerously high temperatures, organizers said the first weekend of Summerfest was a hit.

“It was an incredible first weekend,” said Jerrod Woods, senior director of marketing at Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. “We had an awesome lineup with Def Leppard kicking things off. I think everyone was just itching to get back to the grounds and get back to the festival, and the fans definitely came out.”

Now as crews opened the gates Thursday for the second of three weekends along the lakefront, Woods said big things are on the horizon over the next three days and nights.

“It’s going to be sunshine all weekend long,” Woods said. “We’ve got a great lineup in our amphitheater: Lainey Wilson, a country superstar, will be headline tonight; we’ve got The Killers tomorrow — it’s going to be my first time seeing The Killers, so I’m super excited for that one; and then we’ve got Megan Thee Stallion who’s a huge pop superstar [on Saturday].”
