COLUMBUS, Ohio — I-270 reopened Monday morning after being closed on Sunday due to an overturned tanker truck, Columbus Police said.
The Ohio Department of Transportation said the company Kokosing performed repairs to the damaged roadway overnight. Inspectors confirmed the roadway is safe for travel.
Police said the tanker left the road and overturned shortly before 2 p.m. on Sunday. The tanker was carrying 8,500 gallons of fuel and caught fire.
Witnesses saw flames at the crash site, with a plume of smoke visible for miles.

Columbus Police stated that the driver of the truck is in stable condition at a local hospital.
