The city’s Charter Revision Commission released its preliminary report earlier this week.
Created by Mayor Eric Adams, the commission is tasked with recommending changes to the city charter, which would then be put to voters as ballot questions this November.
Potential reforms could make it easier to build new housing by updating the city’s land use review process and making it more difficult for council members to block new developments.
The report also touched on ideas like open primary elections and moving city elections to even-numbered years.
Richard Buery, the chair of the city’s Charter Revision Commission, joined NY1’s Bobby Cuza on “Inside City Hall” Friday to discuss more.
He also serves as the CEO of the Robin Hood Foundation.
