We are talking to Democratic mayoral candidates across the state this weekend on In Focus.
JoDee Kenney sat down with Anthony Tyson Thompson. His resume includes stints as a non-profit sector leader, and communications director for Assembly Majority Leader Crystal Peoples-Stokes and now hopes to become Buffalo's next mayor.
Thompson says his entire career has been focused on fixing injustices and finding ways to innovate systems and structures. He says that Buffalo needs a leader who knows the nuance and understanding of policy implementation to create intervention that will move the system toward positive change. He calls the child poverty in Buffalo one of the worst in the country and it is intertwined with economic recovery. Thompson is calling for a long term strategy to address this issue.
