According to the Center for American Progress, college debt is on the rise and one in three people in the U.S. between the ages of 25 and 34 owe on a student loan. When you add it all up that's $1.5 trillion in federal student loan debt, plus another $120 billion in private loans not backed by the government. And, if you've been paying attention to the early presidential primary cycle, several candidates have competing proposals for how to address the crisis.
