EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Thousands of music and arts fans gathered to celebrate life and music in Re'im, Israel, at the Nova Music Festival in October 2023. It was a fateful Saturday when the festival was abruptly disrupted by a Hamas terror attack that resulted in 1,200 deaths — among them 370 festival attendees.
The spirit of the festival didn't end at the massacre, as a new exhibition has made its way overseas to New York and now Los Angeles County to honor the lives lost at Nova.
"The Nova Music Festival Exhibition: October 7th 06:29am – The Moment Music Stood Still" will have its official opening on Saturday in Culver City.
The exhibition's founders and their partners from the U.S. have recreated a sacred space resonating with the weight of the memories of both victims and survivors, enveloped by remnants salvaged from the festival grounds: scorched cars, bullet-riddled bathroom stalls and personal belongings all left behind.
Festival survivors will be in attendance to share their firsthand testimonies as witnesses and victims of the Oct. 7, 2023, terrorist attacks.
