ROCHESTER, N.Y. — More than 2,400 Monroe County residents have already voted in the first weekend of early voting this election season. But that's fewer than 1% of eligible voters in the county.
Early voting continues on Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The most popular voting locations are Irondequoit Public Library, Perinton Square Mall, the SUNY Empire State College location off Westfall Road and the Webster Library.
Seats in the Monroe County Legislature and Rochester City Council are on the ballot.
Early voter Tyrone Morris wanted his daughter to be by his side this weekend as he submitted his choices.
"It was important for me to come out and I wanted to experience this with my daughters, because I am one of the millennials, so I feel like it's important for us to vote, know why we're voting," said Morris. "It's important for us to engage in activities like this, because we do have the power to make sure that there's change that we want."
Early voting goes through October 31 and voters can cast their ballots at any of the 14 locations listed on the Monroe County Board of Elections website.
