Cassie Semyon is a reporter in the Spectrum News Washington, D.C., bureau, covering news of interest to California, its congressional delegation, and national stories.

Cassie was born and raised just outside of Scranton, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Temple University’s Klein College of Media and Communications, where she earned a degree in Media Studies and Production with a minor in Political Science.

Cassie previously worked as a reporter, producer, and weekend anchor at WBOC-TV in Delmarva, covering central and southern Delaware and winning a Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcasters Association award for her continuing coverage of the first COVID vaccines given in Delaware in 2020. She also worked as a multimedia journalist in her hometown at WNEP-TV. She interned with NBC News’ Andrea Mitchell and ABC’s NewsOne, where she helped to cover the trial of Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, the congressional baseball shooting, and other breaking political news.

She joined the Spectrum News Washington bureau as part of the production team in late 2021 before becoming an on-air reporter.

At Spectrum News, Cassie has conducted exclusive news-making interviews with former Vice President Kamala Harris and former House Speakers Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. and Kevin McCarthy R-Calif.

Her sit-down interviews with McCarthy in his hometown of Bakersfield, California and in Washington became the basis for an exclusive three-part series and a half-hour special, Kevin McCarthy: The Journey to House Speaker. She also covered the Harris campaign in 2024 for Spectrum News, filing stories from across the country about the Democratic nominee and her campaign in the final weeks before the election.

When Cassie’s not on Capitol Hill, you can find her running, hiking, reading, exploring D.C., or cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles.
